Akuko was born from the need for a space for writers and artists from Africa and its Diaspora to share the stories of the continent and its peoples worldwide.
We want to be the place where readers come to find stories, music, and art from any part of the continent and Diaspora with ease.
To create a world where African stories matter and are seen as worth preserving and passing on.
To create a repository of African stories, thoughts and creativity and to make these works easily available for enjoyment and for academic pursuit.
To nurture African artists and thinkers and help them flourish.
We want to empower African writers and artists from the continent and the Diaspora by providing a space for them to tell their stories.
We want to elevate the voice of Africa as just as valid and essential to listen to as other cultures. The stories told will center the African voice.
We are on a mission to tell African Stories
